Discovery Project

Discovery project description:

Discovery project is the initial phase of exploration and analysis conducted with the scope to gather information, assess needs, and evaluate options for starting a larger IT project/program or initiative. This phase is critical for laying the groundwork and understanding the current state of IT infrastructure, processes, and requirements. The output of the discovery project is a clear understanding of their IT landscape, defining strategic objectives, mitigating risks, and making informed decisions about technology investments and project execution. This phase sets the stage for successful project planning and implementation, ultimately supporting the organization’s overall business objectives and IT strategy.

Discovery project approach:

Even if this is a project, we follow the project management methodologies, and the deliverables of this project are requirement documents, a project contract, and an overview of what is to be procured and enabled. Compared to a blueprint document, this project defines the implementation project’s scope, needed hardware and software, timeline, price, and contractual milestones. Also, it facilitates starting procurement activities as soon as possible after the implementation project kick-off meeting.

Discovery project in-scope:

  • Assessment of Current IT Environment
  • Identification of Business Needs and Goals
